A Trip Down the Yellow Brick Road: The Knights of Momus Celebrate "The Emerald City Mardi Gras in Oz"

Galveston's Mardi Gras season reached a dazzling crescendo with the Knights of Momus Coronation and Ball, themed "The Emerald City Mardi Gras in Oz."

The night was a spectacular journey, transforming The Grand 1894 Opera House and the Galveston Island Convention Center into a whimsical world of wonder.

The Coronation

Guests, dressed in their finest attire, began the evening at one of two elegant pre-coronation receptions before being whisked away to The Grand 1894 Opera House. The historic venue was the perfect backdrop for the Coronation of Scott Kusnerik as King Frivolous CIX and Abigail Doherty as Queen, where the royal court was presented in all its glory. The audience watched in awe as the vibrant and imaginative "Emerald City" theme came to life on stage, showcasing a tradition that has been a cornerstone of Galveston’s Mardi Gras for generations.

The Royal Revelry

Following the coronation, the celebration moved to the Galveston Island Convention Center for a night of dinner and dancing. The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as members of the Krewe and their guests reveled in the spirit of Mardi Gras. The "Royal Revelry" was a fitting tribute to the year's theme, with attendees embracing the festive energy and making memories that will last a lifetime.
